Pixel 8 Series - Graphene OS Installation

This blog post is for our customers who have pre-ordered degoogled Pixel 8 Pro and/or Pixel 8 phones with THREE CATS or those considering ordering the 8 Series with us, and wish to know when these phones will be delivered.

FINAL UPDATE 4 20 October 2023 ➤ 11:30 am

I have successfully installed and tested the new Graphene OS [+ Android 14 Base] on my new Pixel 8 Pro, which has been that stable, I have now transitioned to it as my "daily driver" as they say. While the final code is yet to be released for general users, I will now email each of you for your phone configuration and be ready for when the final Graphene OS code is released. I hope to have your phones configured and dispatched by this time next week, ie Friday 27th October — To Our Privacy — David

UPDATE 3 18 October 2023 ➤ 10:00 am

Well my personal testing with my DeGoogled Pixel 8 Pro + Graphene OS [new Android 14 base] has been very successful. I have installed every app I use, and tested them from banking apps, to sat nav, bluetooth hotspot, [limited] social media apps, VPN, and sync my contacts and calendars with my MacBook Pro [special geek setup]. I have NOT found one bug to report. Now we wait for the GOS Devs to give it the official approval.

One other observation is that power consumption seems to have improved perhaps by 15%, likely due to the Android 14 background energy management enhancements — David

UPDATE 2 17 October 2023 ➤ 11:00 am

I have now installed Graphene OS on my Pixel 8 Pro Test Phone and as expected, all went smoothly. As the Base Code for Graphene OS is the new Android 14, there would typically be a few small bugs to be isolated and resolved by the official GOS Developers. It is encouraging to see an amazing number of 8 Series Alpha Testers such as myself, installing, testing and reporting back any issues to the GOS developer team to resolve.

While a Final Release date is not yet known, good progress is being made. Stay tuned for further updates — David

UPDATE 1 16 October 2023 ➤ 4:00 pm

As you likely know, your degoogled Pixel 8 / 8 Pro will be degoogled with Graphene OS [GOS] installed and privacy configured, along with your preferred apps, ready to use.

The Pixel 8 Series phones are a new model released only last week and along with them, the new Android 14 OS release, bring advanced privacy and security, along with new software features, an improved camera and other new phone hardware improvements.

The GOS developers have now released an Alpha Version [trial version] of the Graphene OS for the Pixel 8 Pro / Pixel 8 testing, which I will be installing on my Pixel 8 Pro Test Phone first thing tomorrow. Stay tuned for further updates — David
