Australian Digital ID Age Verification

Age Verification for Search Engines from 27 Dec 2025

Australian Digital ID Age Verification ➤ 27 Dec 2025

OVERVIEW

Separate to the new "Under 16 Australian Social Media Ban" due to officially begin on the 10th December 2025, the Australian Government is also introducing the "Australian Digital ID Age Verification" requirement for search engines operating in Australia, as of the 27th December 2025.

This requirement forces search engines such as Google, Microsoft and others, to implement age verification technologies for logged-in users under new codes registered by the Australian eSafety Commissioner.

THE IMPACT

Google is used by more than 90% of Australians and for more than just searching. The Google ecosystem includes Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Maps, meaning this change will affect virtually all Australian internet users.

YOUR OPTIONS

This age verification requirement applies only to users who are signed into their account with search engine providers like Google or Microsoft. It is understood if you are signed out of your account when you do a search, you should NOT be required to verify your age.

SECURE DEGOOGLED PHONES

We have been asked if our Secure Phone or DeGoogled Phone will bypass this requirement and the answer is NO. It is a requirement by the Australian Government to compel the search engine providers to verify the users age and no phone can circumvent this. Our phones are designed and provide extreme privacy and security by preventing apps and third parties from spying on your activities, and to prevent hacking of your phone both in person and remotely.
