How To Reset Your Existing SIM Card

Mobile Network Connection Issues

If you are having mobile network connection issues with your old SIM after inserting it into your new Secure Phone or DeGoogled Phone, then read this guide to learn how to resolve this issue.

The Problem

When you move your existing SIM card from your old phone to your new phone, the mobile network provider [Telstra, Optus, etc] SIM Management System can sometimes get confused. This may include problems with sending / receiving texts, or calls, or even internet data, or any combination of these. Follow the steps below to resolve your network problem.

The Solution

1] Resetting your Phone Mobile Network Settings

Open your "Settings" app on your phone, and go to System  ➤ Reset Options  ➤ Reset Mobile Network Settings and then tap the "Reset Settings" button and follow the prompts. Now test your phone as this may be all that is required to resolve your connection issues.

2] Call your SIM Provider

If your connection issues persist, the next step is to ring your SIM provider. You do not need to tell them its a DeGoogled Secure Phone, simply advise you have a new phone handset, and are having problems with sending text / calls etc, and ask them to Reset your SIM Card. If they do ask what your new phone handset is, just tell them it’s a Pixel and the model number [Pixel 8a / 9a / 10 / etc] and they will reset your SIM. This should resolve your SIM connection issues for your new phone handset.
